Dingsheng Machine: Advanced Oil Refining Solutions – Deacidification Process
Date:Nov 8th, 2024
Deacidification is a crucial step in oil refining that removes free fatty acids (FFAs), which are responsible for unpleasant odors and accelerate the hydrolysis and rancidity of neutral oils. This process improves oil quality, enhances stability, extends shelf life, and ensures health safety. It is considered one of the most economically beneficial steps in crude oil refining.
Features of the Deacidification Process
Customizable Equipment: Available in various specifications tailored to customer needs.
Polished Finish: Ensures oil remains free from contamination or damage.
High Efficiency: Streamlined process to maximize quality and yield.
Alkali Refining Deacidification Process
The alkali refining process is the most critical step in refining, laying the groundwork for decolorization, deodorization, and deep processing. During this process, alkali reacts with FFAs to form soap, which absorbs impurities. The soap and impurities are then separated using gravity sedimentation or a centrifuge.
Dingsheng Machine’s oil deacidification equipment is designed for superior performance, these are our key equipment advantages:
Disc Centrifuge: Features a robust structure with a drum, transmission device, and distribution system. It efficiently separates soap stock and impurities, ensuring high-quality oil output.
Mixing Reactors: Facilitate uniform mixing of crude oil with chemicals for optimal deacidification.
Vacuum Dryers: Ensure the removal of residual moisture, enhancing oil stability.
Deacidification Steps
Pre-Treatment:
Filter crude oil to remove impurities (<0.2%).
Mix with acid and measure the oil’s acid value.
Neutralization:
Heat crude oil to 20–40°C.
Mix the heated oil with phosphoric or citric acid to convert non-hydratable phospholipids into hydratable ones.
Add 16–24 times the alkali solution (0.05%–0.2% of oil weight) and mix for 5–10 minutes at 60–70 rpm.
Allow the oil and soap stock to separate visibly, then reduce the stirring speed and heat gradually to accelerate soap coagulation.
Soap Stock Separation:
Discharge soap stock into a buffer tank. If soap stock contains excess oil, it is refined for reuse.
Washing:
To remove residual soap, add industrial water 3–5°C warmer than the oil (10%–15% of oil volume).
Wash 1–3 times, mix thoroughly, and allow to settle for 30–60 minutes.
Separate oil and water using a separator, discharging wastewater containing soap impurities.
Dehydration:
Dry the washed oil in a vacuum dryer to remove residual moisture, ensuring oil stability.
Filtration and Packaging:
Filter the dehydrated oil to remove remaining impurities.
Package the refined oil in sealed containers for storage in cool, dry conditions.
