Efficient Oilseed Processing with Enhanced Steaming and Roasting Techniques

Dingsheng Machine introduces advancements in the steaming and roasting of oilseeds, crucial for maximizing oil extraction efficiency and improving product quality.

1. Importance of Steaming and Roasting

Cell Disruption: Steaming and roasting further disrupt oilseed cells, breaking down both free and bound oil fats. This process is essential as free fats, dispersed in the oilseed, are more easily extracted.

Protein Coagulation: Steaming induces protein denaturation, increasing oil yield. Denatured proteins reduce residual oil in the cake, enhancing extraction efficiency.

Phospholipid Expansion: By increasing moisture content, phospholipids swell and remain in the cake, improving oil quality. This is particularly beneficial for cottonseed processing.

Cotton Phenol Binding: High moisture content in steaming promotes the binding of cotton phenol with proteins, reducing its content in the oil and enhancing oil quality.

Other Benefits: The process also lowers oil viscosity and adjusts seed properties for better extraction performance.

2. Steaming and Roasting Process Requirements

Moisture Stage: Maintain a closed system to prevent moisture loss. Fill the steaming pot to 80-90% capacity and seal it effectively.

Steaming Stage: Ensure even steaming at temperatures of 95-100°C for 50-60 minutes. High moisture steaming enhances protein denaturation and phospholipid retention.

Roasting Stage: Heat the seeds to about 110°C with 4-6% moisture content, reducing it to 2.5% before extraction. Properly roasted seeds should appear yellowish, oily, and have good plasticity.

3. Types and Operation of Steaming and Roasting Equipment

Vertical Steaming Pot: Consists of stacked layers with indirect steam heating and stirring. It's widely used for its ease of operation and sealing.

Horizontal Steaming Pot: Features a cylindrical design with a spiral stirring mechanism. It's less commonly used due to inconsistent heating and shorter processing times.

Flat-Bottomed Fryer: Simple design with direct heating and stirring. It's easy to install and operate but may not meet all process requirements.
